Mix It Up: Winter Math!

I just ran across this slideshow from Refinery29 (my fave!), and had to show it to you. They’re calling it “Fashion Math”; each of the 3 sections starts with a particular type of winter coat, then adds various pieces to form a complete ensemble equation. Here’s one of my favorite looks:

Winter Math

Winter Math: What to wear with a parka. (Click the picture to go directly to the slideshow.)

Aside: As I was flipping through this slideshow, I was amused (as I always am) by the scenarios envisioned for each of these outfits; I love the idea that my lifestyle might actually include things like “chilling at the chalet”, or the slightly more likely “hot toddy scouting”! Who knows? Maybe this goes beyond the hypothetical; maybe it’s a sartorial field of dreams: If I wear it, the scenarios will materialize! End of aside.

I also love the way dresses and other warmer-weather pieces are artfully added to these winter outfits. So even if your day doesn’t include flea-market shopping, these looks should inspire some creative wardrobe mixology! Hey… it’s the new math!

  1. If it’s cold enough to wear a parka and boots, I’m afraid I would need a dress with sleeves (less summery) since I am cold-natured!

  2. My favourite is the hat. I love to wear hats of all kinds. i am not sure how warm it will keep on a winter day like today but I would look great! ~Thea

  3. The boots and the hat, thank you!
